King Ranch edition, Big Horn Edition, and the 1794 Edition...One of these is built in Texas.

It's no secret that nearly every truck manufacturer out there has some sort of Texan, Horse towing, ranch inspired truck in their line up that features a slew of different bells and whistles and is more than capable of conquering any type of farm work you can throw its way, but one thing about these trucks might surprise you. Like the title says, between the following trucks; Ford King Ranch, Dodge Big Horn, and the Toyota 1794, one of them is actually built in Texas, by Texans, on what used to be an old ranch. Believe it or not, its the Toyota 1794 Edition Tundra and its the only one built in America. The 1794 is a representation of the year the original Ranch stood where the Toyota Texas manufacturing plant currently stands. The Tundra is truly a ranch inspired truck that is capable of towing over 10,000lbs and is fitted with an amazing i-Force 5.7l V8. So if you have the need for an American built, Ranch inspired truck, look no further than the 1794 Edition, 2014 Toyota Tundra.

2014 Dodge Dart and the 2014 Corolla S+

We decided to borrow a Dodge Dart from our sister store and a Corolla S+ for our sales personnel to compare. The Dodge Dart is the SXT multi air turbo model with nearly all of the bells and whistles. It's certainly an interesting little car. The model we borrowed gets about 39mpg on the highway as compared to the Corolla S+ that gets 37mpg on the highway and the Corolla LE Eco that does 42mpg on the highway. The interior on the Dart all faces the driver making it a bit more like a European car however, it lacks a touch screen (Optional). The Corolla S+ comes with a touch screen and the ability to do voice commands and use Entune. New hydrogen vehicle to touch the ground in 2015

Looks like Toyota has a pretty finite plan to touch U.S. soil with a Hydrogen car in 2015. Toyota used a small prototype sedan in Japan earlier in the week to give test drives with. A similar car, with quick acceleration, sharp handling, and a different exterior is said to be making its debut at next month's Tokyo Motor Show. Will the technology seems new, it's actually been in the works since 2000. As you can imagine with the way technology advances nearly 14 years is quite a substantial amount of time for technology to be in the research and development stage. It wasn't that many years ago that the iPhone was just a concept, now look where we are. Think Would you be interested in a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle?

More on the new driving support system.

Yesterday we posted the Toyota Press room news release about their newest advanced driving support system. The system looks like it uses a combination of different technologies to communicate with vehicles around it (equip with the same technology of course) to ensure a collision does not take place. This type of technology seems like something out of the movie i-Robot! Today we found a picture of the system in action and thought we would share. Toyota has a new advanced driving support system

Toyota City, Japan, October 11, 2013 — Toyota Motor Corporation announces that it has developed a next-generation advanced driving support system, Automated Highway Driving Assist (AHDA), which uses automated driving technologies to support safer highway driving.

AHDA links two automated driving technologies to support safer driving and reduce driver workload: Cooperative-adaptive Cruise Control, which wirelessly communicates with preceding vehicles to maintain a safe distance; and Lane Trace Control, which aids steering to keep the vehicle on an optimal driving line within the lane.

Toyota recognizes the importance of the driver being in ultimate control of a vehicle and is therefore aiming to introduce AHDA and other advanced driving support systems wherethe driver maintains control and the fun-to-drive aspect of controlling a vehicle is not compromised. Toyota plans to market the newly developed AHDA in the mid-2010s and other driving support systems as soon as possible to provide safe and secure means of transportation.

Ahead of trials on the Shuto Expressway near the Tokyo metropolitan area starting October 15, Toyota will exhibit AHDA at the 20th Intelligent Transport Systems World Congress Tokyo 2013, an international conference for intelligent transport systems (ITS), to be held from October 14 to 18.

In addition, to enable prompt market introduction of next-generation driving support systems, Toyota will make use of the cutting-edge component technologies and know-how acquired through automated driving research conducted with the advanced active safety research vehicle unveiled at the 2013 International CES in Nevada, United States in January this year.

New Pedestrian Safety Technology by Toyota

Toyota City, Japan, Oct. 11, 2013 — Toyota Motor Corporation announces that it has developed a Pre-collision System (PCS) that uses automatic steering in addition to increased pre-collision braking force and automatic braking to help prevent collisions with pedestrians.  Toyota is committed to developing safety technologies that help eliminate traffic fatalities and injuries involving pedestrians and other vulnerable road users.

The new PCS with Pedestrian-avoidance Steer Assist can help prevent collisions in cases where automatic braking alone is not sufficient, such as when the vehicle is travelling too fast or a pedestrian suddenly steps into the vehicle’s path.  An on-board sensor detects pedestrians and issues a visual alert on the dashboard immediately in front of the driver if the system determines that there is a risk of collision.  If the likelihood of a collision increases, the system issues an audio and visual alarm to encourage the driver to take evasive action, and the increased pre-collision braking force and automatic braking functions are activated.  If the system determines that a collision cannot be avoided by braking alone and there is sufficient room for avoidance, steer assist is activated to steer the vehicle away from the pedestrian.

The number of traffic fatalities in Japan has declined for 12 consecutive years, reaching 4,411 in 2012.  However, of that total, pedestrian fatalities are the most common, accounting for 37.0 percent^*.

Last year, Toyota developed a system that uses increased pre-collision braking force and automatic braking to help prevent collisions with pedestrians.  The system, which was adopted on the Lexus “LS”, warns the driver when it detects a potential collision with a pedestrian or obstacle. If the driver does not take action to avoid the collision, the system activates.

TMC aims to make PCS (Pedestrian-avoidance with no steer assist) more affordable and roll it out by 2015 on a wider range of vehicles, before introducing PCS with Pedestrian-avoidance Steer Assist.

Corollacade the video game!

Ogeeku, a video game development team was given one month to create a video game featuring the 2014 Toyota Corolla. What they came up with was a cool arcade style driving game that features the new Corolla in all it's glory. Skate boarding with Team Toyota and the 2014 Corolla

TORRANCE, Calif. (Oct. 8, 2013) – A road, a railing and even a Toyota Corolla: To Omar Salazar these are playgrounds to showcase his signature creative approach to street-style skateboarding. Salazar is the newest member of Team Toyota, an exceptional group of athletes selected and supported by Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. Salazar will demonstrate his skills Oct. 11-13 in his first Toyota-sponsored competition at the Dew Tour San Francisco stop.

A Sacramento, Calif. native now living in Los Angeles, Salazar is one of the top street skaters in the country and is credited with bringing new inventiveness to the sport. He joins the roster of Team Toyota athletes, including skater Bob Burnquist, BMX riders Jamie Bestwick and Drew Bezanson, snowboarders Elena Hight and Louie Vito, skier Simon Dumont, triathlete Hunter Kemper and more.

“Being a part of Team Toyota is an amazing opportunity to share my love of skateboarding with fans and newcomers to the sport,” Salazar said. “I appreciate the chance to work with Toyota and the other awesome Team Toyota athletes from around the sports world.”

The Dew Tour City Championship in San Francisco is a Toyota-sponsored event featuring competitions and demonstrations, including BMX Dirt, FMX, Skateboard Street, BMX Street, Dirt Best Trick, Skate Streetstyle and BMX Streetstyle. Salazar has again contributed to the design of the downhill course for maximum challenges and fan enjoyment.

A new bargain on the 2014 Prius Plug-In

It just got a little easier for drivers to maximize their fuel savings and be environmentally responsible.

Toyota’s most advanced technology passenger car, the Prius Plug-in, will be available to customers at a substantially reduced price beginning with the 2014 model year.

Toyota has reduced MSRP on the 2014 Prius Plug-in Hybrid by over $2,000, making the starting MSRP $29,990.

The 2014 Prius Plug-in Hybrid is well-equipped (similar to a Prius Three), but adds these appealing features:

• Heated cloth front seats – a unique standard feature available only on Prius Plug-in
• Remote Climate – a feature that allows customers to activate their A/C remotely (standard on Prius Plug-in, available on Prius Three)
• Ability to drive extended distances in EV Mode, helping to increase  fuel efficiency
• Unique 10-spoke alloy wheels
• 1 additional year of Roadside Assistance through ToyotaCare, for a total of 3 year

A motorcycle inspired Toyota vehicle.

Toyota has recently confirmed a new production vehicle and it only has 3 wheels. The vehicle shares much in common with a motorcycle, and is fully electric. It's Toyota's i-Road electric trike, and its a close range inner city commuting vehicle whose wheels don't function like that of a car with a steering rack. Instead the vehicle takes advantage of lean angles and drives much like a motorcycle would, making it very compact. It's an interesting little vehicle that would work great for folks who commute around downtown Charleston. It doesn't look like we will ever see the vehicle in the states, but its still quite a neat concept and the fact that it is actually going into production in the JDM (Japanese domestic market) says something about Toyota's confidence in a vehicle of this nature. A truck like frame for demanding conditions.

The 2014 4Runner is a little different than your average SUV. One of the things that make it different is the "Body-on-frame" design, which means much like a truck the body is set on top of a separate frame, unlike some of its competitors which use a car-like unibody construction. The 2014 4Runner is more rugged, thanks to its "Body-on-frame" design. While it may be a bit heavier and less agile on pavement, it's far better suited for heavy duty challenges like off-road use, towing, and hauling than unibody SUV's. Off-road in the 2014 4Runner

Check out some great info on the 2014 4Runner in last months article of International Business Times. 

"The 2014 Toyota 4Runner may not be as appreciated as the Tundra, but it has been redesigned to echo the full-size pickup truck’s power and capability. The 2014 4Runner has an overhauled exterior with Toyota leaning towards an "aggressive" look that has become popular in recent redesigns.

Much like the Tundra, the 2014 Toyota 4Runner comes in three grades, the SR5, Limited and Trail. Each grade comes standard with 4.0-liter, 270-horsepower V-6 engine and a five-speed automatic transmission, and owners can choose two-wheel drive, four-wheel drive or part-time four wheel drive.

The 2014 Toyota 4Runner SR5 and Limited feature new front grilles, and for those who want more off-road capability there's the Trail edition with a hood scoop. The 2014 Toyota 4Runner Limited will include chrome trim along the exterior, a chrome front grille and front bumper."
